Does Spotify Still Work on iPhone 6 Plus?
Spotify's current app requires iOS 16. Your iPhone 6 Plus maxes out at iOS 12, so the current version won't install from App Store search. But the Purchased Apps method and Spotify's web player both provide full streaming on your device in 2026.
Method 1: Install the Last Compatible Version
Apple keeps the last compatible version of any app in your Purchased history. Here's how to get it:
- On a current iOS 16+ device, install Spotify with the same Apple ID.
- On your iPhone 6 Plus: App Store → profile picture → Purchased → search Spotify → tap the cloud icon.
- Select Download when prompted about iOS compatibility.
The older version connects to your Spotify account normally. Your playlists, liked songs, podcasts, and offline downloads all sync. The UI is older but the streaming quality is identical.
🎵 Spotify Premium works on the older version. Your subscription carries over — offline downloads, no ads, and high-quality streaming all work on the last iOS 12-compatible version.
Method 2: Spotify Web Player via Safari
Go to open.spotify.com in Safari on your iPhone 6 Plus and sign in. Full playback, playlists, and search all work. Tap Share → Add to Home Screen for a home screen shortcut.
Limitation: offline listening isn't available via the web player — that's app-only. If offline music is important, use Method 1.
What About Spotify Connect?
Spotify Connect (controlling playback on other devices from your phone) works normally on the older app version. If you use your iPhone 6 Plus as a Spotify remote for a speaker or TV, it continues to work fine.

The Purchased Apps method gives you full Spotify functionality including offline downloads and Premium features. The web player is the easier no-install fallback for basic streaming. Both work on iPhone 6 Plus in 2026.
