Who we are
AppCompat (appcompat.net) is an app compatibility finder and editorial site for iPhone and iPad users. We help people discover apps that work on their specific device and iOS version.
What data we collect
Newsletter signups
If you sign up for our weekly digest, we collect your email address and the iOS version you select. This data is stored with EmailOctopus and used solely to send you app compatibility updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.
We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties other than EmailOctopus (our email service provider).
App Store data
App information displayed on this site is sourced from the Apple App Store API. We do not collect any data about which apps you view or search for.
Cookies and local storage
AppCompat uses localStorage (not cookies) to remember your dark/light theme preference. This data never leaves your browser and is not accessible to us or any third party.
We do not currently use Google Analytics, tracking pixels, or any third-party analytics. If this changes, this policy will be updated.
Advertising (future)
We intend to display advertising via Google AdSense in the future. AdSense uses cookies to serve relevant ads. When AdSense is enabled, a cookie consent notice will be added to the site in compliance with UK GDPR and PECR requirements.
